The Future Of Mobile Showcased At TED?

June 13, 2009  |  Blog, Innovation  |  Share  |

Here is a really interesting concept showcased at TED showing how your mobile device can act as a ‘sixth sense’.

The device which is actually called Sixth Sense uses a number of different technologies (location, picture recognition, Internet, gesturing) to enable new interactions between the real world and the world of data.

You can see influences from a number of existing applications and devices such as the Android Barcode Scanner, the awesome Sekai Camera and the amazing Microsoft Surface Table.

So it’s not so much a new technology but a innovative way to piece it all together. It could have some vital uses including helping people with disabilities.

Where the concept really gets interesting is the talk of Sixth Sense being a brain implant. Imagine picking up a DVD and seeing the rating from amazon superimposed over it just using your eyes.

Obviously this is far far into the future but it’s certainly the most intriguing part about this.
