Hi my name is Murat, I’m a mobile creative/designer based in London, UK.
My background in mobile over the last 6 years covers a number of different areas including ad-serving, strategy & planning, messaging, experiential, social, mobile web & apps, within agencies and technology-based companies.
I tend to have difficulty describing what I do, but the best way to outline my skills would be – design + user experience + innovation + creative technologist + strategy.
Whilst I design apps and mobile web sites, my understanding of the technology, industry and consumers means I’m heavily involved in future vision and on-going strategic input too.
I love being creative with tech and data, whether that’s using the Facebook Social Graph, HTML5, or NFC. So naturally much of work I do isn’t confined just to mobile and integrates with web, TV, online, print and outdoor. I try and lead the creative process as much as possible.
All of this feeds into work I do for clients, pitches and my own projects. I spend a lot of time making sure the results have some real-world value for the user or brand.
I’ve been lucky to work at some of the most amazing mobile companies such as Enpocket, Nokia and Mobile Interactive Group to produce and deliver a huge amount of campaigns, sites, apps and strategies over the years.
My work there has allowed me to win and lead some great large-scale mobile projects for global brands such as Vodafone, O2 and more recently Marks & Spencers, New Look, Barclaycard, Airmiles, PlayStation.
At Nokia my role was to create relevant and contextual advertising experiences and manage large scale qualitative and quantitative consumer research into my creative concepts, gathering vital insight prior to development, production and strategy. I’m very analytical and keep a close eye on trends and the evolution of user behavior.
I also had the opportunity to consult for the team building the next generation Nokia OS and help provide input into user experience and features.
As well as doing work for clients I also enjoy coming up with interesting ways to use new mobile technology and APIs in my spare time. One example is InstaBAM! (available in the App Store and on the mobile web) where I teamed up with @frasiocht and @pakmee to create a way to find photos taken in your location on Instagram.
I started this blog in 2009, writing about things I find interesting, thoughts on the industry and my concepts. One of my ideas called ‘The Twettle’ even made it into Wired and the national press.
The success of this encourage me to launch a mobile tech start-up with a friend, aiming to build a cloud-based messaging platform, due to go into beta later this year.
If you want to get in touch, feel free to say hello.
